               Keeping up the mess

 You have gathered all sorts of prints. I am trying to keep purple/lavender in all my prints because the person getting the place mats likes purple.

 Cut your scraps into strips. I chose to do 2" strips but you can chose any width you want.  Tiny one inch would be interesting.

 Now, you have another pile, those are the strips you have cut.  They are ready to apply.

 I used a basting spray to hold the filling to the backing fabric.  You could use pins, I just like using the spray adhesive

Now, lay out your strips in a design that will work for you.  All place-mats do not need to match as far as lay out, just use the same strips in each.
