Just Rambling

I have no clue as to why my pictures turned out blurry. I know, there is a lot of things I have no clue about!!
So here is another invitation for tea.
I like blog land and the blogs that I follow and the friends that follow me and take the time to let me know you are visiting.  So much better then thinking we are talking to ourselves, which probably would not be a bad thing either.
This morning I visited Mamaw's Place, again because I visit there oftenI wanted to more then leave her a comment, I wanted to share what her post meant to me.  Since being told I have the big C, I have no room in my heart for self pity. I want to do as much as I can everyday.  There have been times I have visited her and I am tired just reading what she did on a week-end.  Love, love her attitude of full steam ahead, go for it all.
The more I do it, the better I feel.  So even though you do not know who you touch with your blog or maybe you don't even know the reason the words came to you to share, I want you to know you have made a big difference in my life.
Yup--Go for it, just get up and go even if you don't know right off where you are going.
Bless my blogging friends.

Tea Time

My friend Rett from the gazebo house, made this adorable tea cozy.  She also made one for me as a gift, is she not just the sweetest.

I started drinking lots of tea.  I like tea but now since I have to keep up drinking lots of liquid, green tea really hits the spot.  Now, I am trying different flavors so it gives a new meaning to afternoon tea.

The heart is a real pocket, that holds your tea bags.

I will also be using my pretty cups for my tea times.

I think he likes it!!

I was able to get Seth's quilt done and given as a token of love on Valentines day.

The quilt is made using pieces left from shirts I have made for him.

So of coarse matching pieces to school pictures, was in order.  Oh, that one was from first grade and that one from kindergarten.
What fun that was.
The backing of the quilt is his favorite sport baseball!

Then it was time to just hang out.

Downton Abby

Yes, I am now among those hooked on this series.  The story gets you but, then the history of  those times really get me.
12 coarse meals?  Dressing for dinner?  what wonderful traditions that we no longer follow.

Check out those hats. More about those later.

Compare

I got permission to share the picture of the candy dish, that matches my fruit bowl.
MAMAW'S PLACE is one of my favorite places to visit.  I think we both love the same things.

Treasure

I might start a treasure Friday because I would love to share some of my treasures
My fruit bowl (with plastic fruit)  jumped out at me this morning, when I spotted a matching candy bowl on mamamawasplace  this morning.

Check it out, I would have posted a picture here but have not asked permission.

Do not try to eat the fruit.  Anyone ever see red grapes?
This bowl belonged to my Mother-in-law.  I am so glad she saved everything because she was not one that would have used this bowl for anything.
I tried to get a picture of the scroll work on the bottom of the bowl.

I don't know if it is a glass that has a name, like, depression glass or not.  If you know, could you please tell me.

I treasure this bowl and feel so lucky to have it.

Do you remember these?

We did a little "what is it" on the Everythingsewing  forum.

So I wonder how many of you remember these?
How many actually USED one of these?   Or do you still use one?
Really fun watching the Grand kids pick them and give them a good look over before asking, "What is this"?
Maybe I will find some other tools of the trade and see how many know what they are.

Last look for awhile

This quilt just grew and grew! Which is good because
Seth is now taller then I am!!

This will be your last peek until it turns into a real quilt.  What a learning curve this has been.

The top is 60" square. Not exactly planned.
Not sure I am cut out for this!

You want me to do what?

You want me to wear this outside?
Your serious aren't you? Have you given any thought to what the neighbor cat is going to say when she see's me?

I knew she would laugh!!
If you don't mind, I would like to be alone.

NO PERFECTION HERE!!

Funny how we let little words creep into our heads and take up space.  Those little words can also keep us from trying new things, or just getting out and doing things we may have never tried before.

Well, to me those words were PERFECT!!  They come as good advice I think, by someone meaning well.  To me some of those words or at least one word is PERFECT!!
1. When you can sew a perfect seam. Then you can learn to use the machine.
2. You need a PERFECT 1/4" seam!
3. You need to match those colors PERFECTLY!!
Here is a few examples of not PERFECT. PERFECT in my eyes and that is all that counts.

These are a ccouple of blocks I will work into the quilt.  Mickey, for his trip to Disney land and "One of a kind" because that is what he always said when he put on a new shirt I made him. He knew no one else would be wearing the same shirt.  The camera has picked up wrinkles I can not see, so I will make that block again.

The other pictures are from the butterfly quilt.  The quilt is sewn together by love not perfection.  Given by members of Hospice to patients, what a wonderful gift.
Each block is different.
If the giver of the quilt waited, until they could do a perfect quilt, the quilt would never had been made.

So, I move along making my squares and sewing together my block's and hope Seth doesn't see the mistakes.
