Happy New Year!

Soon it will be 2014!  I am not sure I have anything to resolve in this coming year, will just keep on doing what I normally do.
I offer prayers for the New year, that this is the year for a real break through in finding a cure for cancer.  For finding a cure for MS and all the other horrible things that plague this planet.

I thank you for being my friend and allowing me to be your friend.   For all your inspiration and humor.

Soon a New Year

How many Christmas's and New Years do you think this little cabin has seen come and go?
It is not to far from where I live, so of coarse I wonder if I can find out more about it, but for now, I love to make up a story of a family from long ago. Wondering how they survived the harsh winters we have sometimes. Did they have a wonderful Christmas?  Probably with gifts they made each other, and a wonderful meal from the goods raised by their own hands.
As yet another year passes, I often wonder about past years,do You?

Cute little house ready for Christmas

I tried to get a good picture of the cute little house all lit up.  It was difficult to capture it the way I wanted to.
I didn't think flash was a good idea and it would probably have washed out the picture anyhow.  My mind was telling me not to flash lights out here in the dark, good grief it could scare the people inside half to death,
which would totally spoil my chances of meeting the owners.

Cute little house

I want to find out more about this cute little house.  I go by it on a regular bases, and, although it is in town I wonder if at some point it was a farm house or orchard house.
There was a time when it looked so sad, it was falling into disrepair.
A for sale sign  went up and shortly came down.  The place started to change and I noticed the new owner was oh so creative.  Each month a new theme was put up in the yard.
I have wanted to take pictures for a long time and share this little house but, I didn't dare. What would the owners think of me stalking them???
Then!! Ta-Da, I find out it has been turned into a bed and breakfast. It is not far from the hospital and is the perfect spot for those with loved ones in the hospital to be able to be close.
I will now be keeping you up on the decorating, since I feel it is fine to take pictures. I am hoping I get to meet the owner and get a few inside pictures.

Maybe I can get some evening pictures so you can see the lights.

Sidetracked!

I am so guilty of being totally sidetracked. Not just once in awhile, I am sidetracked on a daily bases.  I start one project, that reminds me of another that I have been meaning to do, and, there I go---.
I know one of my goals is to blog more, to get in touch with my blog friends and find out their secret.  Probably not a secret at all right?  Bet, you will say something like "You have to work at it"  am I right?
I know it is something I am going to love doing, as soon as I get over being sidetracked.

Sunrise

I have no clue to what is causing these red/red sunrises and also the sunsets have been a blaze of color.

I know it is the perfect way to start your day.  Who could not love the beauty God paints for us.

Oh So Sweet

Thank you all so much for your support.  Loved your comments, and they really help me.

Lets take a short trip to sweet land.  I kid you not, this place has the best fudge in the whole world. OK, maybe not the whole world because I haven't tasted all the fudge in the world.  They make it right on the spot.
The do have sauces and good things but mainly I am all about the candy.

Feelings

OK, this is my web log and I will post my feeling here.  When I get back up to speed posting, I will post all sorts of 'stuff'.
To be open and honest, that yes, even at my age a so called friend made a comment that hurt my feelings. I don't know what terms to use, I just know I would feel better if I wrote it all out.
I have blog friends that I think need me LOL.  Well, they need my prayers.
This friend told me over and over " I don't do blogs".  Fine! she didn't need to do blogs, that was her decision.  I like my blog, I like my blog friends.   Well, she said it so often I started feeling I was doing something wrong. go ahead and laugh because it really is funny now.  But, it shows you how words can work on a person.
Just recently a blog friend offered to teach me something new and I can't tell you how excited I am about it.  Next note from friend lets me know she is not happy that I will be learning something new and she can't learn because she doesn't do blogs.  Also she no longer speaks to me.  Does this sound anything like an adult?? Well, anyhow she will not be standing in the way of my blogging my fingers to the bone.
Thought I would leave you with a picture from our valley.  Yes, I am blessed.   I read that just because God closes a door doesn't mean he is keeping you from something, but is saving you from something you don't need to go through.

Lets put the cast on's to work

The dress that got me started on doing cast on roses.

 It looks so tiny now.

When you start your roses, start with the outside ones and work toward the center.
Most of all have fun and enjoy the process.

A First For me!!

After following so many wonderful, creative blogs.  I am so inspired by these super creative ladies to try my hand at decorating for fall.
This is a first for me, decorating just isn't in my gene pool--usually I do try Christmas and those decorations stay up until Easter.
First the front porch. Must have
           Something to meet guests.
I love the tea pot planter,
a Birthday gift.  When I spotted the red and yellow mum I just knew it would work in the pot.

Next I tried the dining room table.
I think Mr. Rooster and Mr. turkey  look pretty happy together.

                                              Then the hutch!
There is my first attempt at fall decorating. This should last until it is time for Christmas 'stuff'.  I am sure there will be some tweaking, no one told me it was this much fun.

I am done!!

My ugly fabric has been tamed!
Because it really did look like a fabric for PJ's,but, was cotton not flannel, I made a pillowcase for my cat loving granddaughter.

Next is a little pillow for a cat named Zoe.  She loves to rest her chin on a pillow, so she is getting her own special little pillow.

Then came the shopping bag.  I wanted to try out a pattern, to see if this bag would work for my quilting class.
The bag is Kwik-Sew K 3612.  There are patterns for two other type bags included, so I will also be trying those.

So there are the three items.

You may see a bit more
                 of this fabric, Someday!

Oh HELP!!!

Someone at Everythingsewing had a bright idea of doing an ugly fabric challenge.  I am not pointing fingers but, I am sure it was Betty.

The way it goes is, anyone interested signs up and agrees to send no less then 2yards of their ugly fabric to a victim  another member. In turn they receive 2 yards.

Well, my two yards arrived, so I am asking for help.  I do not think I need to say much about this fabric.
Napkins for a kids birthday party?

We end our tour

We stop for tea on our way out.  Again I am so sorry about the picture being so dark.  This was not a digital camera so I had no way of guessing the outcome.
I hope you enjoyed the tour of this very special home.

The movie "An officer and a Gentleman"  was filmed here at Fort Worden.
The house next to the commanders home was used in the film.  I did not get a picture of that home.
Here is a picture of Officers row.  Where the officers homes are located.

Just a note, we are not finished touring Port Townsend.

You knew I would find it!!

Find it I did!!

I understand why area's are roped off but wish I could have gotten some better
pictures.  They also frown on flash.
Beautiful pieces of lace and hand embroidery are show cased.

I Love so many things in this room.
The lamp!
The blue chair
The special little touches.
I just love this room.

Moving down the hall

As we continue through the house, we spot many great Victorian items.

so let us travel down this hall and see where we end up.

Of coarse an Officer would have indoor plumbing.   We had a home that had a claw foot tub and I was amazed at how deep they are. Was a very comfortable tub.

Maybe we should check out one more room.

The study, where there must have been many, many very serious conversations.

Next the childs room

I think showing a child's room is rare and I just love it.
What little girl would not want that mirror?  Totally fit for a Princess.

A sweet bed

Continuing on our journey

My first stop when we arrive is Fort Worden.
Fort Worden has a long history, the fort itself was constructed in June 1896.

My interest however is not the history, not at this time.  I am headed for an area on the Fort called "Officers Row".
I will zero in on the Commanding Officers home.

I walk up the stairs to the open front door,
knowing I will be transported back in time. I feel strange, almost like a guest in a different world.  I belong here, but at the same time I don't belong here at all.

Part of me say's it is fine, to wander through a bedroom.  I get the feeling still, that I am intruding on someones else s home.

So much attention has been given to the smallest detail.  Even the type of clothing one would wear.
I just love the fainting couch,my daughter has one just like it, that was given to her by her aunt.
Did you notice how the mirror frame matches the bed frame?   I would love to have that set.
A closer look at the headboard.

Washington's Victorian Seaport

One of my very favorite places.
A ferry ride takes you back to the Victorian time's.   A time I call fluff and stuff.  They had the time to fluff up their rooms and fill the rooms with stuff.
I adore the Victorian times from my point of view.
Elegance, for the sake of elegance.  Taking time to take in the beauty of a simpler time.

Fall  is upon us.  Two great ways I can tell are:
The sunflowers are showing off in the garden and -----

I am not what they call a football widow, I miss all the sales they hold for women who I guess are not supposed to like football.    I am a fan!!  To be exact I am a Seahawk fan!!
Bring it on!!!

Paradise Glass Gem Corn

Not a urban legend, glass gem corn is for real.  Grown right here in paradise by McGlinn.
This is not a sweet corn and is used mainly for grinding or popcorn.
                                Amazing

If you want to learn more about this corn, here is a link

Happy Happy Day

Friday was our Anniversary.  It was also a day full of test and Dr. visit's.   Over the years of anniversary's I have put in a lot of thought as to where we would go for dinner.  Sometime it was very elaborate places and sometime is it was celebrated by spending the whole week-end someplace.
This year it was celebrated on the Columbia river, on a little boat I call "Wild thing".
We had pizza!   Pretty fancy huh?
The river was as smooth as glass.  I hope that means smooth sailing for a long time to come.
I had a great report from the Dr.  there is no cancer!!  I will have to do some follow up visits for awhile.  I can never remember a time when a Dr. gave me a hug. I think I hugged back just as hard, and said Thank you a million times.
I am so blessed, to be able to live here in paradise.  From our mighty river to our mighty mountains, I am blessed.

They moved!

I am not a quilter at least not yet.  It is something I have dabbled in hoping to learn the in's and out's of putting together those wonderful quilts I see.   I am also in love with quilted table-runners,  oh my some just take my breath away with their beauty.

Well our quilt shop just moved!!  they had a large shop but it wasn't located in the down town area and now they are.

                                    I love the display windows.

            The interior is bright and

  full of inspiration.

We have a meeting spot for our
Apple Valley smockers.  Surrounded by beautiful quilts.  So much inspiration!!

STORMS

I am always amazed at the power of these storms.   There is a certain beauty and at the same time a certain danger.
At this time the fire is 70% contained thanks to the firefighters.
