The dress that got me started on doing cast on roses.
It looks so tiny now.
When you start your roses, start with the outside ones and work toward the center.
Most of all have fun and enjoy the process.

A First For me!!
After following so many wonderful, creative blogs. I am so inspired by these super creative ladies to try my hand at decorating for fall.
This is a first for me, decorating just isn't in my gene pool--usually I do try Christmas and those decorations stay up until Easter.
First the front porch. Must have
Something to meet guests.
I love the tea pot planter,
a Birthday gift. When I spotted the red and yellow mum I just knew it would work in the pot.
Next I tried the dining room table.
I think Mr. Rooster and Mr. turkey look pretty happy together.
Then the hutch!
There is my first attempt at fall decorating. This should last until it is time for Christmas 'stuff'. I am sure there will be some tweaking, no one told me it was this much fun.

I am done!!
My ugly fabric has been tamed!
Because it really did look like a fabric for PJ's,but, was cotton not flannel, I made a pillowcase for my cat loving granddaughter.
Next is a little pillow for a cat named Zoe. She loves to rest her chin on a pillow, so she is getting her own special little pillow.
Then came the shopping bag. I wanted to try out a pattern, to see if this bag would work for my quilting class.
The bag is Kwik-Sew K 3612. There are patterns for two other type bags included, so I will also be trying those.
So there are the three items.
You may see a bit more
of this fabric, Someday!

Oh HELP!!!
Someone at Everythingsewing had a bright idea of doing an ugly fabric challenge. I am not pointing fingers but, I am sure it was Betty.
The way it goes is, anyone interested signs up and agrees to send no less then 2yards of their ugly fabric to avictim another member. In turn they receive 2 yards.
Well, my two yards arrived, so I am asking for help. I do not think I need to say much about this fabric.
Napkins for a kids birthday party?

We end our tour
We stop for tea on our way out. Again I am so sorry about the picture being so dark. This was not a digital camera so I had no way of guessing the outcome.
I hope you enjoyed the tour of this very special home.
The movie "An officer and a Gentleman" was filmed here at Fort Worden.
The house next to the commanders home was used in the film. I did not get a picture of that home.
Here is a picture of Officers row. Where the officers homes are located.
Just a note, we are not finished touring Port Townsend.

Find it I did!!
I understand why area's are roped off but wish I could have gotten some better
pictures. They also frown on flash.
Beautiful pieces of lace and hand embroidery are show cased.

Moving down the hall
As we continue through the house, we spot many great Victorian items.
so let us travel down this hall and see where we end up.
Of coarse an Officer would have indoor plumbing. We had a home that had a claw foot tub and I was amazed at how deep they are. Was a very comfortable tub.
Maybe we should check out one more room.
The study, where there must have been many, many very serious conversations.

Next the childs room
I think showing a child's room is rare and I just love it.
What little girl would not want that mirror? Totally fit for a Princess.

Continuing on our journey
My first stop when we arrive is Fort Worden.
Fort Worden has a long history, the fort itself was constructed in June 1896.
My interest however is not the history, not at this time. I am headed for an area on the Fort called "Officers Row".
I will zero in on the Commanding Officers home.
I walk up the stairs to the open front door,
knowing I will be transported back in time. I feel strange, almost like a guest in a different world. I belong here, but at the same time I don't belong here at all.
Part of me say's it is fine, to wander through a bedroom. I get the feeling still, that I am intruding on someones else s home.
So much attention has been given to the smallest detail. Even the type of clothing one would wear.
I just love the fainting couch,my daughter has one just like it, that was given to her by her aunt.
Did you notice how the mirror frame matches the bed frame? I would love to have that set.
A closer look at the headboard.

Washington's Victorian Seaport
One of my very favorite places.
A ferry ride takes you back to the Victorian time's. A time I call fluff and stuff. They had the time to fluff up their rooms and fill the rooms with stuff.
I adore the Victorian times from my point of view.
Elegance, for the sake of elegance. Taking time to take in the beauty of a simpler time.

Paradise Glass Gem Corn
Not a urban legend, glass gem corn is for real. Grown right here in paradise by McGlinn.
This is not a sweet corn and is used mainly for grinding or popcorn.
Amazing
