Here I am

Lost in the sewing room. A friend I met on line just happens to be a quilterHer name is Linda and she must be the most patient person because I just keep messing up.
This is where I am on Otto's quiltI have since added a small boarder. The next assignment is to do pinwheels, so I have started on those today.

Sometimes I have even just sat down and cried over this quilt stuff.  I know, it sounds silly to me but I also know there will be more tears.
All the time I was sewing for the grands, I was saving scraps with the thought of someday making them quilts from the scraps.  Seemed like a pretty easy goal to me.  I had no clue about points matching and for the word perfect to be used so much.   For sewing squares and cutting those squares in half and on and on we go, sewing, cutting, re-sewing more cutting.
Tomorrow, more cutting, sewing and cutting--

  1. You are doing just fine! They will love them even if those points aren't exactly perfect. I know mine won't be!

  2. It is looking gorgeous. I don't quilt but my grandmother's did and my mom and sister have. From watching them, you can tell it is a labor of love.

  3. Nonie, I wish I lived closer! I'd come give you a hug and some help! :) Of course, it would be the blind leading the blind. hahaha Hang in there! You'll be glad when it's complete and beautiful, even if it is less than perfect.

  4. OOO, sister friend, I can sooo relate to this post. My mother could make quilts look like works of art...just beautiful. But during the time I was raising my family, I never did learn to sew. She was sooo good at everything she did.
Then, after she passed, I really wished I'd taken the time to let her show me how to make a pretty quilt.
I was determined to make a quilt...a BIG quilt, for each of my 10 grands...I did it...only patch quilts...no awesome designs...and it took me a year to make them. They weren't anything to write home about but, I did it. And, the grands loved them. Then I made a few for OUR beds...and we love them. I doubt I'll ever make another. I loved making the quilt TOPS but the quilting was very hard to do, using my mama's 1950 singer.
Keep on working on your quilt...you will be sooo proud. :)

O, and CHILDISH was the kindest word I could think of to use in my post. Other words sure were flying around in my mind but, out of respect for my readers, I didn't want to step TOO hard on toes that didn't agree with me. :))
